Manuka Honey, Cinnamon and Nutmeg Face Mask…My Saviour

Hi Ladies,

So I know it’s been a while since I last posted and the reason for this is because there’s been a few things happen in my personal life recently which have occupied some of my time, but I’m back and hopefully with some interesting posts.

So recently I have been suffering from horrific acne and I couldn’t figure out what was causing the sudden flare up until after some experimenting found out that this was my M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid Foundation. So I immediately stopped using it and moved on to my good old Revlon Colorstay foundation. I was left with some really awful cystic acne of the side of my cheeks and I was on a mission to get rid of them!

So I came across Manuka Honey, Cinnamon and Nutmeg face mask through Pinterest and I was so desperate that I was willing to try anything and I am so glad that I did. I have quickly listed short facts known about the ingredients below.

1. Manuka Honey – 2 Tsps

Sainsbury’s Manuka Honey 10+ 340G – £9.99

3. Ground Cinnamon – 1/2 Tsp

4. Ground Nutmeg – 1/2 Tsp

  • Manuka Honey has properties that contain anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and the ability to aid in healing and repair damaged skin.
  • Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and it also brings blood and oxygen to the surface on the skin and unclogs the pores.
  • Nutmeg is also anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial and also dries out pimples.
How to..

Mix all the ingredients in a clean container to form a thick consistency (thick enough where it won’t slide down your face). Now I have to stress this point, this is not an over night cure! This took about 4 weeks to clear my skin up and this involved using this mask every single day. It was a strict regime that involved no other products, if you feel that you need to use your standard spot treatments as well then go for it.

The Results

I found that the mask was drawing the acne to the surface so I could extract (EWWWW) the gunk inside. Once that was done the every day use of the mask helped heal the spots quicker and helped clear up the scarring as well.

Even though my acne it completely gone, I still use the mask everyday. I find that my skin is amazingly soft, the softest it’s been in a long time. It is time consuming and you won’t see results straight away but what I love about this mask is that it’s natural, chemical free and not as harsh as other spot treatments.

So ladies give it a go and let me know the results!

Sugaring Vs Waxing

Hello Ladies,

Recently I have been looking into different types of hair removal and I came across a method called sugaring which I never really thought of trying. When I did some further research and I was lured into the technique and thought I’d share my thoughts on it.
First all of all Sugaring is a technique very similar to waxing. It is made up of all natural ingredients that can be found in your kitchen and can be made by yourself. Whereas wax is made up of chemicals, preservatives and other unnatural ingredients which can irritate your skin.
From my experience this is what I found;
1. Sugaring sticks to the hair but not you skin. Whereas waxing sticks to your skin and hair so when you’re ripping of the wax strip you are ripping of your live skin cells.
2. Sugaring is water-soluble so if you make a mess then it can be easily cleaned up by just water 🙂 Whereas waxing can cause and mess and be difficult to remove.
3. There are two methods you can use with sugaring. First you can use it in a similar fashion as you would when waxing whereby using a spatula to spread a layer on your skin and using a strip of cloth to rip it off or (my preferred method) The sugar balling method which is the traditional method of sugaring when using your hand you apply a thick mixture in the opposite direction of the hair grow and still using your hands it is then flicked up in a quick motion in the direction of the hair growth.
4. Sugaring can be used anywhere and minimizes the irritation whereas some people especially myself are reluctant to use wax in sensitive areas in case of irritation but as sugaring contains all natural ingredients irritation is significantly reduced.
5. It is said that over time sugaring can reduced the thickness of hair growth and can cause the hair follicle to be damaged and stop growing hair. (However I have only tried this method once so I cannot say)
6. As sugaring is gentle it can be used over missed hairs to ensure that the areas that are being waxed are hair-free and smooth whereas waxing can cause of pain and irritation if you go back to try to re-wax missed hairs.
7. When I looking up this idea on the Internet I wanted to try it almost immediately and the great thing is that I could without having to go out and buy the ingredients as they was all just sitting in my kitchen ready to go.
1. Making the sugar wax can be a little tricky and can take some practice so be successful.
That’s the only con I have found so far!
How to make Sugar Wax
What you will need –
2 Cups of Sugar – You can use granulated sugar or brown sugar
1/4 Cup of Lemon Juice – Fresh or bottled
1/4 Water
Candy Thermometer (if you have one)
What to do?
1. Measure out your ingredients separately as accurately as possible.
2. Mix ingredients together in a pot.
3. Put it on the stove on the highest heat possible.
4. As the mixture comes to boil you MUST keep an eye on it. As soon as the white bubbles are near the top of your pot turn the hit down to low-medium heat. You don’t want to overcook the sugar mix.
5. To ensure that you don’t overcook it take it off the heat and look at the colour of the mixture underneath the bubbles. When the colour starts to change to a golden colour your mixture is almost ready.
6. Let it cook until the colour darkens to an amber colour and take off the heat immediately. At this point your mixture should be done.
Note: If you have a candy thermometer then you can use this. As soon as it hit 280 degrees your mixture will be ready.
If the mixture has cooled down too much then you can reheat in the microwave. It will only need to be in there for no more than 10 seconds otherwise I will get too hot!
Things to look out for:
  • When I first made my batch I undercooked it so the mix was really sticky and I couldn’t use the ‘balling’ method. The reason why it was sticky was because it was undercooked. In order to fix this I just threw it back on the stove and let it cook a bit more and it was ready to go after.
  • If the mixture it really hard then you have overcooked the mixture in which case it is irrecoverable. You can eat it (yes it is edible) or just throw it out. One of the great things about sugaring is that it is cheap and ingredients are easily obtainable.
I urge all women out there to at least try this method and just see how great it is. I personally don’t think I will go back to regular waxing.

Clear Skin

Due to the Weather being extremely bitter this winter it has affected our skins more than we know… as Spring approaches is time to pull out all the tips and tricks you can find in order to create that beautiful glowing skin we all long for.

My personal favourite  remedy is simple yet unbelievably effective.

Rose water – You can buy rose-water from any salon shop, online and most retail stores. Apply twice a day before you apply your makeup and let is dry and before you go to sleep.

Rose Water

Drink Water – If you can drink the recommended amount of water a day; which for women it’s 2.2 Litres a day it will do wonders for the skin. It will hydrate it, flush out toxins from the system (reduces pimples) and lots of other benefits for the body.

I have been using these two combinations for 3 months now and it has made such a difference to my skin. It is so smooth, reduced pimples and glowing skin. Plus you skin will smell nice once you have applied rose-water. 🙂 which is always nice!

Of course Rose water can be used in other things as well, you can add some in your moisturizer and in your face mask. Works a treat. It is an inexpensive remedy and believe me when I say this it works!! I just wanted to share this remedy with other women out there who are always looking for new ways to treat their skin.

How do you get clear skin? Any simple remedies?

Macadamia Hair Mask

Ok girlies, I’ve been so excited all day about my new find! But first let me just fill you in on how I came across my new product.

Lately I noticed that my hair was feeling a bit rough, dry and just a mess really. My current hair care routine is a complete nightmare and I just can’t seem to get my hair to do what I want it do! I did a bit of research online about different intensive hair masks and a stumbled across some excellent reviews for macadamia hair mask. After reading some of these reviews I just had to buy some. I went onto amazon and thought I’d better start off small, so I bought a 30ml sachet of the macadamia hair mask.

This is how I used it.

1. Firstly I washed my hair as usual and towel dried it leaving it slightly damp. I used about half the sachet and massaged the mask to end the ends of my hairs paying particular about attention to the ends and they are the most damaged and dry part of my hair. I made sure that all my hair was covered apart from my scalp.

2. The directions on the packet says to leave in your hair for about 7 minutes but due to the condition of my hair I left it in for about 20 to 25 minutes.

3. Once my 20 minutes were up and rinsed the conditioner out of my hair. (Ensure that all the conditioner gets rinsed out).

4. First of all, as I was washing the conditioner out if my hair, I could feel a difference instantly. My hair felt incredibly smooth and soft.

5. When I combed my hair the comb just glided through my hair, no tangles which was amazing results for me as my hair is a nightmare to comb are I wash it normally.

6. Lastly when my hair dried completely; naturally as well I didn’t need to use any heat appliances which once again is absolutely amazing results for me as my hair normally turns all frizzy but after this product it was smooth, frizz free not to mention smells bloody amazing! Even now as I’m writing this I can’t help but take a whiff of my hair as it smells just beautiful and feels ultra smooth!

Overall, I am absolutely in love with product, although I have only used it the once, after I publish this I’m going to jump online and get a bigger tub of this beautiful product. But I guess after months of neglecting my hair now it’s time to give it a good treat to bring it back to being beautiful.

If all you ladies are looking for a new hair product to try or you’re still searching for a hair mask for extremely dry hair I urge you to go out and try this. You can grab a small sachet on amazon for a few Quid, well worth the money! It is on the pricey side but I definitely think it worth ever penny.

It would be lovely to hear your Experiences (good and bad) with this product so please comment and let me know your thoughts!
